Setting Up Your Profile

Your profile is how other members get to know you. A thoughtful profile helps you connect with the right people, find relevant communities, and build trust with the members around you. The good news: it only takes a few minutes to set up, and you can update it whenever you like.

Editing Your Profile

To edit your profile, click the account icon (a user-circle) in the top-right corner to open the Account menu, select Profile, then click Edit Profile. Here's what you can personalise:

  1. Name — Your display name, visible across the platform whenever you post, comment, or join a community.

  2. Location — Where you're based, in a simple City, Country format. This helps nearby members and communities find you.

  3. Bio — A short description about yourself. Share what you're passionate about, what you're working on, or what brings you to the community.

  4. Interface language — Choose your preferred language from the dropdown. This changes the language of the interface across the platform. Just below it, a separate Content language selector controls the language of the community content you see, like posts and events.

  5. Avatar — Upload a profile picture to put a face to your name.

    • Accepted formats: JPG, PNG, GIF, WebP
    • Maximum file size: 5MB

All changes are saved when you submit the form, so take your time getting things just right.

Adding Your Skills

Skills let other members know what you bring to the table. Whether it's gardening, graphic design, or grant writing, your skills help people find you when they need a hand.

In the Skills section:

  • Type a skill name and press Enter or click the add (+) button
  • Repeat to add more skills
  • Remove a skill using the Remove button next to it
  • Drag the handle on the left of any skill to reorder your list and move your most important skills to the top

Adding Your Interests

Interests let others know what you care about — from hiking to board games to live music — and help you connect with like-minded members.

In the Interests section:

  • Type an interest and press Enter or click the Add an interest button
  • Repeat to add more (up to 10)
  • Remove an interest using the Remove button next to it
  • Drag the handle to reorder your list

Managing External Links

Want to share your website, portfolio, or social media? External links let you point members to the places that matter to you.

  • Add a link and an optional description
  • Save the link to show it on your public profile
  • Toggle any link Active/Inactive — inactive links are hidden from your public profile, so you can hide a link without deleting it
  • Edit or remove links anytime

This is a great way to share your work, connect on other platforms, or link to a personal blog.

Your Contact Information

Your profile includes a separate section for private contact details:

  • Phone
  • Contact Email
  • Address
  • Contact Notes — any additional context you'd like to share with people who have access

Important: Your contact information is not publicly visible. Other members must send you a contact request to see these details. When someone requests access, you'll be notified and can choose to accept or reject the request. Only members you've approved will be able to see your contact information.

This gives you full control over who can reach you outside the platform.

Privacy Mode

If you'd prefer a lower profile, your profile settings include a Privacy Mode toggle. When turned on, your username is blurred on public pages, adding an extra layer of privacy.

Privacy & Data Settings

Your account settings include privacy and data options. You can review and update your choices, request a copy of your data, or delete your account. For more details, see Your Privacy Matters.
