Community & Safety Standards

Effective date: August 3, 2026

How these Standards work

Communities helps neighbours build local groups, share useful information, and meet in real life. These Standards describe the conduct and content that help people participate safely and with confidence.

The Standards apply across the Service, including Community boards, discussions, comments, private messages, Community chat, profiles, media, event and place listings, and exchange listings. They apply to content you post or link to and to how you behave toward other people.

These Standards form part of our Terms of Service. Community Organisers may set additional rules for their own spaces, but those rules cannot override these Standards or applicable law.

Everyday community conduct

  • Treat people with respect. Disagreement is welcome; personal abuse, intimidation, and humiliation are not.
  • Protect privacy. Share another person's information, image, or messages only when you have permission.
  • Be honest. Represent yourself, your organisation, your event, and anything you offer accurately.
  • Keep participation constructive. Use Community spaces for their intended purpose and avoid repetitive or unwanted promotion.
  • Consider safety. Do not pressure people to take risks or ignore another person's boundaries.

Content and conduct we do not allow

Context matters, including when people share an experience, seek help, educate others, or report wrongdoing. We consider that context while applying the following boundaries.

Violence and serious threats

Do not threaten, encourage, celebrate, or organise violence against another person. Do not use the Service to plan or promote terrorism, violent extremism, or another violent criminal act, or to recruit or raise money for one. We may notify competent authorities when required by law or reasonably necessary to prevent serious harm.

Hate and discrimination

Do not attack, dehumanise, exclude, or incite hatred or violence against people based on characteristics such as race, colour, ethnic or national origin, nationality, immigration status, religion or belief, caste, sex, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, disability, or a medical or genetic condition. This includes slurs and hateful symbols used to target a person or group.

Harassment, privacy violations and sexual exploitation

Do not target someone with abuse, intimidation, stalking, unwanted sexual attention, or repeated unwanted contact. Do not reveal private information, share intimate images without consent, threaten to do either, or exploit another person's vulnerability for personal, sexual, or financial gain.

Self-harm and suicide

Do not encourage, promote, or give instructions for suicide, self-injury, or disordered eating, and do not pressure another person to harm themselves. People may talk about their own experience, ask for help, or support someone who is struggling.

If you or someone else is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services. In the Czech Republic, the First Psychological Aid Line is available on 116 123.

Sexually explicit content

Do not post sexually explicit content or use the Service to advertise, solicit, or arrange commercial sexual services.

Child safety

Communities is for adults aged 18 and over. We do not allow child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE), child sexual abuse material (CSAM), grooming, sextortion, trafficking, or other conduct that sexually exploits, abuses, or endangers a child.

Report a child-safety concern with the report control or by email to safety@communities.site. You can report without a Communities Account and do not have to provide your name. Do not attach or forward suspected CSAM; tell us where it can be found. We report apparent child sexual abuse material to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and, where applicable, to the Police of the Czech Republic or other competent authorities, and we may permanently disable the responsible Account.

Illegal or dangerous transactions

Do not use the Service to buy, sell, advertise, or arrange illegal drugs, weapons, stolen or counterfeit goods, endangered wildlife, human trafficking, or unlicensed gambling. Other regulated items may not be offered where the law or the rules of a particular feature prohibit them.

Deception, fraud and spam

Do not impersonate another person or organisation, misrepresent an affiliation, operate deceptive accounts, run scams or phishing, manipulate engagement, or send bulk unsolicited promotion.

Meeting safely

Communities can introduce people and help Organisers coordinate events, but an online platform cannot remove every risk from meeting in person.

  • Review the event details and ask the Organiser questions before attending.
  • Meet in an appropriate public place when you do not know the other people.
  • Tell someone you trust where you are going when that would improve your safety.
  • Protect financial information, identification documents, and your home address.
  • Leave a situation that feels unsafe and contact emergency services when needed.

How to report a concern

Community content has a report control. Open the menu on a post, discussion, event, place, exchange listing, or other Community item and select Report. Include enough detail for us to understand the concern.

Private messages, Community chat, profiles, and uploaded files do not yet have an in-app report control. Report those concerns by email. You can also use email if you do not have a Communities Account.

You do not have to provide your name, although an email necessarily reveals the sending address. For allegedly illegal content, identify the exact item or location and explain why you believe it is illegal. Do not knowingly submit false or abusive reports.

Send email reports to our safety team:

safety@communities.site

If someone is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services first.

How we respond

  • Reports about Community content create a case for review by authorised platform staff.
  • Child-safety reports receive our highest priority. As a precaution, Community content reported for child safety is temporarily hidden as soon as it is reported while we review the concern.
  • We may temporarily limit other content when the reports or surrounding circumstances indicate that prompt intervention is appropriate.
  • Depending on the circumstances, we may restore or remove content, restrict features, suspend an Account, permanently disable an Account, or take no action.
  • We may preserve relevant records and notify competent authorities where required by law or reasonably necessary to prevent serious harm.
  • We may tell the person who reported and the person affected by our decision about the outcome when we can do so safely and lawfully.

Asking us to review a decision

If we tell you that your content or Account has been restricted and you believe the decision is wrong, reply to the decision notice or email the safety team. Identify the affected content or Account, explain why you disagree, and include any relevant context.

We reconsider appeals using the available information and any additional context you provide. We may decline repeated, abusive, or clearly unfounded requests. Available court, regulator, and statutory complaint rights are not affected.
